Liz Ghandakly is a Cardiology Fellow in Los Angeles, CA. She is an MD graduate from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and attained her Masters in Bioethics at Johns Hopkins University while in medical school.  She completed her Internal Medicine residency at The Cleveland Clinic in their Clinician Educator Track, where she developed and implemented a “Physicians as Advocates” Curriculum.

Prior to medical school, she practiced corporate law for a number of years, doing contract negotiation for large IT corporations including IBM and Oracle.  With a deep interest in health policy, she served an appointment to the City of Alexandria Public Health Advisory Commission from 2016-2018, worked as a Health Policy Advisor to a Virginia State Delegate, and has joined ACP and the ACC in Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

Liz graduated from The Ohio State University with a dual degree in Economics and Political Science and an Arabic minor and received her law degree from The Ohio State University. As part of her Arabic minor, she spent a semester studying at The University of Damascus in Damascus, Syria. In 2024, she joined a medical mission aimed at transfer of knowledge on interventional cardiology procedures to the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Tanzania, which further sparked a passion for international health. She has also worked as a Medical News Contributor for ABC News in their Medical News Unit, reviewing medical news stories and writing scripts and pieces.

Her professional interests include Critical Care Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Sports Cardiology, Adult Congenital Cardiology, Women’s Cardiovascular Health, Health Policy and Advocacy, and Med Ed.

In her spare time, Liz enjoys running with her dog, competing in triathlons, playing tennis, discovering new cappuccinos, and trying to become a surfer. She completed the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco and the New York Marathon.
